Musiche eseguite dal vivo dal Marco Bucci trio. Il recital di Gennaro Cannavacciuolo propone in una reinterpretazione personale le varie strade musicali percorse da Domenico Modugno. Lo spettacolo è aperto da una rassegna di canzoni dialettali e macchiettistiche, da “O Caffe'” e “La donna riccia”, fino ad arrivare alla più famosa “Io mammeta e tu”. La prima parte prosegue con i monologhi teatrali e il suggestivo dialogo tra madre e figlio tratto dalla commedia musicale “Tommaso d'Amalfi” di Eduardo de Filippo, eseguito con l’apporto della voce registrata di Pupella Maggio. La seconda parte, contraddistinta dall'atmosfera brechtiana, dà spazio alle canzoni d’amore più famose lanciate da Modugno come “Vecchio frac”, “Tu si na cosa grande”, “Resta cu mme” . During the late 19th century and very early 20th, this theatre was the site of most of Mexico City high culture, presenting events such as theatre, operettas, Viennese dance and more. The old theatre was demolished in 1901, and the new theatre would be called the Gran Teatro de pera. Adamo Boari promised in October of 1904 to build grand metallic structure, which at that time only existed in the United States, but not to this size. It was then decided to replace this building with a more opulent one for the upcoming Centennial of Mexican Independence celebrations in 1910. A section of this housing, on Santa Isabel Alley, was torn down and replaced by the National Theater in the latter 19th century....
